Meat, egg and dairy free
One of the clearest ways to decrease negative impact on farm animals is to reduce your meat, egg and dairy consumption. Eat less meat, and with the saved money choose higher animal welfare products. Initially based on health concerns, a nationwide campaign called Meatless Mondays was started to encourage people to have one meat free day a week. Meat consumption in the United States is on the decline. According to the New York Times, the department of agriculture projects that our meat and poultry consumption will fall to about 12.2 percent less in 2012 than it was in 2007. Concerns for animal welfare, human health and the environment all play into people’s decisions to be meat, egg and dairy free.
