You can have the pressure, Mr. Trump—just swap the burger for beans.

Press Release Section Icon 4/21/2025

President Trump’s war on low-flow showerheads is in the headlines—and apparently, so is the idea that water conservation begins and ends with how quickly he can rinse his hair.

But if we really want to talk about water waste, let’s start with what’s on our plates, not our plumbing. A single cheeseburger requires over 976 gallons of water to produce—that's the equivalent of 57 showers. One pound of chicken? Around 500 gallons—30 showers. And that’s assuming you’re using one of those “weak” government-regulated models that, horror of horrors, don’t give you a pressure-washing experience.

So before we gut conservation rules for the sake of a frothier lather, maybe we should rethink our diets. You can have the pressure, Mr. Trump—just swap the burger for beans.
